As the creator, producer and star of the second largest touring
magic show in the world, Robert Gallup has performed in twenty-two
countries on six continents, been featured on over 300 television
shows, and produced a dozen highly rated network specials and series
internationally.
With movie star good looks and a rock and roll attitude, this
modern day Houdini combines intensely physical illusions, legitimately
death-defying escapes, and a cutting edge approach to magic.
Bringing an alternative edge to both stage and television Gallup
currently splits his time between live touring and television
production.
For the FOX Network Gallup combined his trademarked Extreme
Magic with his insanely original mega-escape, the Challenge
of the Death Dive. Considered one of the most dangerous
escapes ever attempted, Gallup was handcuffed, leg shackled
and padlocked inside of a mailbag, chained and locked inside
of an eight foot square jail cell, and thrown out a C-123 transport
plane 18,000 feet above the Mojave Desert. Plummeting to earth
at 150 miles an hour he had less than a minute to free himself
from his restraints and retrieve his parachute that was attached
to the outside of the cell! A huge ratings success for
FOX, Gallup Extreme
Magic: Challenge of the Death Dive won all of its
key demographics in its prime-time slot and further entrenched
Gallup as a world wide preeminent leader in magic, illusion
and escape.
Since creating and producing his first FOX special Gallup has
hosted, segment produced and/or starred in numerous other ratings
success, including NBC's The
World's Most Dangerous Magic, Columbia Tristar's
Action TV
and Ripley's Believe
It or Not!, Australia's Who
Dares Wins, TLC/Discovery's Speed
Demons and Daredevils, How
Do They Do That?, and both series Magic's
Greatest Illusions and Daredevils
Most recently, Gallup and his Emmy Award winning director,
Janice Molinari, have just completed the next installment of
his Extreme Magic franchise, Gallup
Extreme Magic: Live on Tour. Shot primarily on tour
throughout Australia and Asia this one-hour prime-time special
for the USA Network features live concert footage of Gallup's
unique fast-paced MTV-style illusions, spontaneous close-up
street magic, and several live outdoor full-scale death-defying
escapes, including the Skydive
Chain Escape, Houdini's near fatal underwater Queen
St. Bridge Jump Escape and the Rialto
Tower Hang and Burn Escape suspended one-thousand
feet above Melbourne, Australia.
